Reporting to the Director of Automation, this role will play a critical role in collaborating with Automation and assay development teams (US- and EU-based) to deliver an automated version of the Universal DX's colorectal cancer test for verification and validation testing. Additionally, this role will play a critical role in technology transfer of Universal DX's colorectal cancer test to a strategic partner site (US-based) for regulatory approval and commercialization.

• Collaborate with Automation and assay development scientists (EU-based) to develop automated solutions/workflows that meet the product requirements of Universal DX's colorectal cancer test
• Function as a technical SME to identify and address unmet automation needs through cross functional collaboration with scientists, engineers, and project teams. Troubleshoot equipment and process issues related to automation
• Work closely with Quality Assurance, Information Technology, and Regulatory groups to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
• Collaborate with the Director of Automation to anticipate and mitigate potential challenges related to automation integration. Perform product testing, risk analysis, and validation to ensure automation engineering solutions meet business objectives and customer needs
• Prepare documentation and reports on automation projects
• Stay updated with the latest automation technologies and techniques and make recommendations to the Director of Automation for technology adoption based on feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and strategic fit.
• Bachelor's degree in an Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proven experience as an Automation Engineer in the deployment of high throughput and fully automated NGS-based diagnostics in a Clinical laboratory setting.
• Proven proficiency in converting NGS workflows from manual to automated process on liquid handling systems. Deep familiarity with NGS laboratory instrumentation, including liquid handling robots (and associated software) and automation of NGS library prep workflows. Prior experience with commonly used Hamilton liquid handling systems for NGS workflows (MagEx STAR, NGS STAR, Vantage) is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automation systems, PLCs, robotics, and control systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages relevant to automation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with CAD software and system integration.
